Happy American Thanksgiving everyone! A time not only for delicious food, but for giving thanks for all that we have. Despite the craziness of the last two years, I am thankful that it allowed me to meet all of my amazing Twitch friends in the trivia and crossword communities. To celebrate, I made another cryptic! A second variety puzzle! I know, I'm shocked too. But, it's Halloween and shenanigans are called for. This is also my first attempt at a barred grid. It was a lot of work. I genuinely admire those who do this regularly. A very special thanks to juff for not only test solving, but guiding me with gridding and cluing. I could not have done this without them. My first variety! This was quite the project. I learned so much about cryptics and varieties from two wonderful setters and collaborators - juff and Skald . They are both far more experienced and skilled cryptic writers who tend to specialize in some shennanigans. I encourage you to check out their blogs. Just click their names. Welcome back! I decided to venture into a full (15x15) cryptic for this one, and given the theme it certainly deserved it. I learned so much about Juneteenth as well as African American history and culture in the US. This is another themed puzzle, but, you do not need to know anything about the theme to solve.
